The rush to jump on the Nano bandwagon, with Merrill Lynch frantically shovelling away in the boiler room and selling tickets, has led to some odd claims of linkages between nanotechnology and seemingly normal products. Kopin Corp, whose joy at being added to the dreaded ML Nanotech Index knows few bounds had a poke around in the fab and suddenly discovered that they had been a volume nanotech producer since 1995. “Gadzooks!” yells the CEO, “why didn’t anyone tell me?”
Now Hyperion Catalysis always have the excuse that they have been producing nanotubes since before they were discovered by Sumio Ijima, but we wonder what Kopins excuse could possibly be?
