Its a little perturbing to see on one hand figures from the European Commission indicating that Europe is outspending the US in terms of nanotechnology research funding, and then find that over at Motley Fool, a partnership between Nokia and Kopin has reinforced the view that Europe is falling behind the nano curve. Surely it’s just about sourcing components in a global market, in this case displays.
While European companies and universities may not shout as loud as their US counterparts, there is no shortage of action, as a visit to any European nanotechnology conference of corporate research lab will show.
This may be a job for that special department in the European Commission which repudiates myths (usually propagated by the UKs tabloid press), such as the commissions attempt to ban British sausages or French soft cheeses.
