The Small Down

There are not many reports on carbon nanotubes that avoid being garbled into something approaching garbage. Business Week have a go at it and manage to put their finger on the key issue, at least as far as the semiconductor industry is concerned, that carbon nanotubes are great, but very difficult to integrate into any currently used process.

The article rightly points out that CNTs will mostly wind up in bulk applications, and it is refreshing to see an article that is other than mindless optimistic about nanotubes.

All goes smoothly until a phrase like “Mixing a paste of them with paint can make it electrostatic,” creeps in. We know what they mean, but the reporter obviously didn’t.
