This month Scientific American names its list of 50 of those who during 2003-2004 exhibited outstanding technology leadership in the realms of research, business and policymaking. Not surprisgly, nanoscience ets a look in with IBMs Daniel Rugar and Micha Asscher of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem getting gongs for specifically nano related research, although many of the other awardees touch on nanoscale phenomena, the work on plastic electronics for example.
Only one nanotech company gets an award, step forward Nantero. Awards can also be a nuisance, as Richard Feynman often complained, so it remains to be seen if Nantero will finally stagger to market with their nanotubes based memories, or be overburdened by inflated expectations. Were hoping for the former.
