The One Eyed Nanotechnologist

Nanotechnology is often referred to as interdisciplinary, and the Cientifica offices contain physicists, engineers, chemists and life scientists, along with our financial analysts. They seem to get on fine, apart from the odd squabble over whether or not a nanotube is technically a polymer.

What everyone can agree on is that to get a grip on nanotechnology to need to be able to wrestle with the convergence of many different disciplines on the nanoscale. While the UK government trumpets its commitment to science we now have a major university without a chemistry department and another one with a nanoscience centre and now no physics department. That’s akin to poking one eye out.

That’s two universities cutting off any future revenue from nanotechnology courses then.
