Making Sense of it all.

The ever dwindling number of university science departments, especially in the UK, and the decreasing number of students pursuing those difficult subjects in those science departments does not bode well for the future of nanotechnology.

While the Guardian poses the rather sensible question of “Imagine making sense of nanotechnology without knowing the basics of particle physics.” and provides the equally sensible answer “You can’t.”, this simple point doesn’t seem to deter leading nanotechnology pundits from throwing their hat into the ring and putting those uninformed scientists in their place .

All kidding aside, the need to address the issue of science education is becoming more acute. Unfortunately, we don’t have any easy solutions, but we recognize that this will become more of a problem in the future unless the trend is reversed.
