Just in case anyone needs something to worry about on the beach, the North South divide is old hat according to an article in Science. What we should be worrying about is a south-south divide with countries such as India and China developing frivolous nano powered underwear and DVD players rather than “addressing critical development issues”.
The solution, apparently, lies in south-south cooperation and refusing to play ball with “the north”.
We have to ask the obvious question: what has all of this got to do with nanotechnologies that does not apply to any other kind of technology?
