Anyone who has seen any of our presentations over the last year will know that we see drug delivery as one of the lowest hanging, and edible fruits. In fact over a year ago I was approached by a student at a conference in Thanjavur, India, who asked me if nanotechnology could do anything for his diabetic mother, so I was glad to see this press release about Biosante and their oral insulin delivery system.
However, Im always mindful of James Watsons anger at being reported as saying that biotech would cure cancer within two years, which as he correctly pointed out may only give false hope to sufferers, so we are more than a little concerned that nanotech is being hyped in some quarters as a cure for cancer. If we do find a cure for cancer and cancer comes in many forms so its not that simple then it will be due to a combination of technologies working together, of which nanotech may be just one.
