Speaking and media
I speak about emerging technologies from the perspective of a founder, operator and commercialisation specialist who has spent more than 25 years separating technical promise from deployable reality.
Speaker profile
Hydrogen, deep tech, energy transition and commercialisation speaker
I am available for selected keynotes, panels, executive briefings, webinars, broadcast interviews and media commentary. I bring founder and operator experience to subjects including hydrogen, energy transition, technology commercialisation, deep tech, advanced materials, nanotechnology, robotics, industrial sensing and emerging-technology investment.
Conference organisers and journalists engage me when an audience needs a clear explanation of what a technology can do, where the commercial barriers sit and what decision-makers should do next.
What I bring to an audience
I have spoken about emerging technologies since the early nanotechnology market began to form. The subjects have changed, from nanoparticle measurement and advanced materials to graphene membranes, hydrogen infrastructure and physical AI, but the core question has remained the same: what has to happen before this becomes commercially useful?
I connect science to markets, capital, policy, infrastructure and operating reality, using examples from companies I have built and technologies I have helped take towards market.

Topics
Subjects I speak about
Technology Commercialisation
Why technically successful innovations fail to become dependable businesses, how to find the valuable application, and what evidence customers and investors need.
Evidence base: Cientifica market work, venture building, MIT linQ and my Seven Barriers to Deployment.
Hydrogen, Infrastructure & Energy Transition
Where hydrogen creates value, why infrastructure sequencing matters, and how fleet operations, utilisation and fuel economics change the answer.
Evidence base: Element 2, live fleet trials, BBC News and my hydrogen analysis.
Graphene, Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials
What two decades of nanotechnology teach us about hype cycles, platform technologies, industrial adoption and application-led commercialisation.
Evidence base: Cientifica, G2O Water, Parliamentary evidence and the Nanotechnology Archive.
Robotics, Sensing & Physical AI
Why intelligent machines need reliable sensing, dexterity, systems integration and measurable operational value before impressive demonstrations become businesses.
Explore my Robotics & Physical AI analysis.
Water Technologies
How advanced materials become industrial membrane and separation systems, and why integration, energy, fouling, reliability and customer economics matter as much as laboratory performance.
Space & Frontier Technologies
How my ESA engineering background in semiconductor and materials failure shaped a systems-level view of frontier technology, reliability and commercial readiness.
