Hot on the heels of the comments about timber comes the announcement of an aerogel based fenestration system from Kawall. While Cabots Nanogel beads may be microns to millimetres in diameter, they are a nanoporous material, with the pores making up some 90% of the material. This not only makes them highly insulating (think rock wool crossed with candyfloss/cotton candy) but also lightweight, with the best examples being only four times heavier than air! For the technical details, download the Nanoporous Materials white paper.
