WNEC in Ireland Brings Science, Finance, Government, and Industry Together

We just completed our fifth edition of the World Nano-Economic Congress (WNEC). This time it was in Dublin, Ireland and with 40 speakers, 30 individual presentations, and 9 panels, nearly 200 participants were provided presentations from leading companies in applying nanotechnologies in the following fields:
• Electronics
• Medical & Pharmaceutical
• Advanced Polymers
• Food
• Nanomanufacturing & Tools
• Small to Medium Enterprises

FEI Company, Advance Nanotech Inc., Enterprise Ireland, InterTradeIreland, BT, Analytiq Group and Intel sponsored the event, which featured a Keynote Presentation from the Minister of State for Trade & Commerce of Ireland, Mr. Michael Ahern.

As with previous WNEC events, the relationships between government, industry, science, and finance were all brought together to exploit the commercialization opportunities in nanotechnology.

Each of these groups has specific needs and interests in the commercialization of nanotechnologies and can provide particular services to realize this end. At the WNEC, all are brought together to learn more about the opportunities, but perhaps more importantly to meet the people and establish relationships with them that will further their commercial aims.

We here at Cientifica are always impressed by the amount of networking that gets accomplished at these events, and we look forward to our next WNEC in Singapore in September—our second time at this Asian industrial hub.

If you haven’t been to a WNEC event yet, start making your plans for the next one.
