Interest in Space Elevators seems to be increasing, despite the lack of any proof of concept.
Thats not a bad thing, someone has to fund the attempts to break through the technological barriers, and it’s something that organisations such as NASA, rather than venture capitalists have traditionally funded.
Let’s just hope that no one repeats the rather dim idea we saw on one nanotech newsgroup of anchoring the other end of the cable to the moon!
