While in the UK its more lucrative to ve a plumber than a nanotechnologist, in the US you may be better off as a landscape gardener.
According to Sophia Koropeckyj, a senior economist at Economy.com, a research firm in West Chester, Pa., So far, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and alternative fuel technology are creating new products, but they’re not creating the number of jobs that the Internet did. Instead, she says, small-business growth these days is in low-tech industries, such as landscaping and nail salons. “They’re small businesses and they’re going to stay small,” she says.
If you are stiull desperate to be a nanotechnologist the results of a recent EU workshop on training needs are now online.
