The Green Shoots of Recovery?

There is a mood of cautious optimism among the nanotech community, Oxonica’s IPO went smoothly with most of the offering being taken up by existing investors (more of an IO perhaps?) and Quantum Dot Corp being acquired today by Invitrogen Corporation.

Our own numbers indicate a more sustained revival in the fortunes of nanotechnologies, but with the caveat that this will not be across the board. Companies with real applications and market pull will always be more successful than anyone attempting to push technology (remember Mitsubishi/FIC and their 80 tons of fullerenes per year capacity?).

Another bit of M&A this involved Psivida who snapped up Boston based drug delivery company, Controlled Delivery Systems (“CDS”) earlier this week and then secured an additional $15m in funding.
