Terminology is always an issue when looking at nanotechnologies, after all most of what is described as nanotechnology should actually be nanoscience.
Members of the molecular nanotechnology community, who of course lay claim to inventing the tem nanotechnology, are now out in the MNT margins despite a proposal to rename it all zettatechnology a while back.
The latest term to come under attack is ânanofactoryâ with the Yorkshire Post and the University of Leeds taking the flak. CRN, who have spent of lot of time postulating a different kind of nanofactory, the type where the molecules go in at one end and lemon meringue pies, eternal youth and world peace pop out at the other.
CRN thunder that âto use the label ‘nanofactory’ is extremely misleading and needlessly confusing.â We would argue that in the majority of cases to use the label ‘nano’ is also extremely misleading and needlessly confusing.
