Suddenly with the recent nano related activity from Konarka, Nanosolar, Nanosys and the UKs Hydrogen Solar energy investors are pricking up their ears.
With only 742 megawatts of solar cell annual production worldwide, and a slew of breakthroughs on the cards, renewable energy offers investors something that many nanotech companies have so far been unable to offer: an addressable market with growth potential. If compoanies like Nanosolar succeed in their ambition to push down the cost of raw uninstalled solar energy from $2.75 per watt today to about 50 cents for solar manufacturers, then fossil fuels will see competition on economic, as well as environmemtal basis.
