Objectivity or even a little background research doesnt get in the way of the Royal Society of Arts rather splendid nonsense based on a report entitled The 2005 State of the Future (well leave that one for the philosophers to figure out) and neatly illustrates the distinction between completing an arts foundation course and gaining a technical qualification when it comes to getting to grips with electricity.
Apparently when nanotubes are inserted in electric grids, less electricity input will be needed per output. This would have the same effect as producing a new source of energy without greenhouse gasses or nuclear waste.
While we know more or less what they mean, this is based on someone ever being able to produce CNTs in sufficient volumes and at a low enough price for this type of application, which given current trends seems unlikely.
