Five Feet High and Rising

This weeks TNTlog was due to come from Mumbai. It’s ironic that at a time when we are involved in a number of water related projects, that a once in a lifetime 660mm (29 inches) of rain came down on Tuesday afternoon. That, combined with a high tide reducing drainage, have brought the entire city to a standstill

It’s tempting to launch into a CRN style examination of how nanotechnology could make better weather sensors, better drainage systems or send swarms of nanobots out with little mops and buckets, but when you have a Cherripunji style downpour, all the nanotech in the world won’t help.

What is remarkable, is that despite some of our Indian staff having to abandon their cars and walk ten miles home through knee high water, arriving 24 hours after they left the office, the stock exchange kept open and business still functions.

Normal TNTlog service will be resumed as soon as possible, unless International Rescue or the Foresight Institute for World Peace and Love get here first.
