More discussion on nanotech, but this time a chance to make a real difference. The European Commission is bucking the trend of nanny knows best identified by Roger Scruton by asking for opinions on its document Towards a European Strategy for Nanotechnology
While the document is a great piece of work, and the team in Brussels punch well above their weight ( you may be surprised at how many people deal with nanotech in Brussels, certainly a small fraction of the effort in Korea), implementation will be the key stumbling block.
Europe has a track record of worthy ideals and poor implementation, whether getting R&D spending to 3% of GDP, becoming the worlds most competitive economy or even capitalising on a single market and currency across the continent.
This, however, is a chance for everyone involved in nanotech to stop complaining about the problems and suggest some solutions.
Now, what does the Comission have in common with Prince Charles?
