Bending, Not Breaking.

Transparent conductive films are relatively easy to fabricate, and Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) commands the majority of the global market share for devices such as PDAs and touch screens. Unfortunately flexibility isn’t one of ITOs greatest strengths, leading to cracking and ultimately failures.

Flexible transparent conductive films, the type needed for flexible displays, polymer solar cells, e-paper etc are somewhat trickier.

A recent CNT breakthrough at the University of Florida threatens a low cost, scalable alternative to ITO.

Early stage, but worth keeping an eye on.
