CSixty has now merged with nanotube producer CNI, in the sort of merger that results in one of the partners being a wholly owned subsidiary of the other. Given that several of Csixtys founders jumped ship earlier in the year, we can assume that slower than expected progress resulting in poor cash flow or nervous investors prompted the move.
Overall its a good move by CNI. CSixty has a lot of experience in functionalising fullerenes, i.e adding useful things to the carbon scaffold. Carbon nanotubes are a bulk chemical business, but functionalising them for specific applications captures significantly more of the value chain.
